Program Title: The Mark Radio ep.28: The Impact of Oil
Description: Alberta's oil sands are the biggest industrial undertaking Canada has ever seen. Actually, they're the biggest industrial undertaking Earth has ever seen. At the rate they're being developed, they'll be producing around three million barrels of oil a day by 2018.
As derricks pump oil from the ground, they're also pumping money into the economy. But after the recent Gulf oil spill and its estimated $8B clean up cost, we need to ask: is Canada doing enough to safeguard the environment? Or are the people who make Canada's environmental policies blinded by dollar signs?
Host(s): Chris Mitchell
Featured Speakers/Guests: On this episode of The Mark Radio, host Chris Mitchell discusses the social, political, economic, and environmental impacts of oil on Canada with four experts:
Andrew Nikiforuk on the relationship between the oil industry and the Canadian government.
Hadi Dowlatadabi on why economics outweighs environmentalism.
William Amos on who really pays for oil spills.
Ezra Levant on why Canadian oil could be the world's best option.
