The devices will eliminate the need for meter readers, and purportedly make your energy use more efficient. What could be wrong with that? Well despite the many meter readers who must pound the pavement for new work, people with electro-magnetic sensitivities, and those concerned about the proliferation of WiFi signals in our environment, say these machines pose a real health threat. There is also the little matter of privacy and security. Smart and less so schemes for B.C.'s electricity consumers in the second half. And; Jon Elmer checks in from Bethlehem to update last week's deadly demonstration at the Golan Heights.
