Program Title: Latin Waves interviews Broadcaster/Journalist Charles Boylan
Description: Charles Boylan is a Canadian radio broadcaster and political activist. He is former host of Wake up with co-op and current host of Discussion, programs on CFRO 102.7; a community-run, co-operatively-owned, non-corporate radio station broadcasting from Vancouver, British Columbia.
Boylan is also known as an electoral reform activist, active in the movement for proportional representation since 1997 when he became a director of the BC Electoral Change Coalition led by Troy Lanigan of the Canadian Taxpayers' Federation. He was also an active campaigner for Adriane Carr's Free Your Vote initiative in 2001 and 2002.
We speak to Charles about the recent historic rally in Alma Quebec in which 8000 citizens in a town of 30,000 came out in support of the locked out workers from Rio Tinto Alcan. He speaks about how the Quebec government is literally subsidizing the lockout against the workers. This historic event went largely unreported in the main stream media.
He also speaks about the radical agenda of Steven Harper and the introduction of Immigration Bill C31 which will change the fabric of what Canada is.
