Description: In 1431, a 19-year-old French girl named Jeanne Romée was burned at the stake. Her story has frequently been re-told, but this version convincingly portrays her as a young butch lesbian who only when it’s too late understands the total ingratitude of the patriarchy. In these three WINGS programs, you hear the entire play The Second Coming of Joan of Arc, as performed by its author in 1996, at June Millington’s Institute for the Musical Arts. Author interview ends 3rd episode.
