Description: The Girls Rock movement is said to have started in Portland, Oregon in 2001, with the Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls. Today, Girls Rock Camps happen all over North America. In Canada, there are regular camps in Mississauga, Toronto, Montreal, Peterborough & Vancouver.
At Girls Rock Camps, girls learn instruments, form bands, write original songs, and perform concerts at live music venues. The aim is to support girls to build self-esteem and find their voices.
The Girls Rock wave has started reaching Victoria, BC on Coast Salish Territories. Feminist Rock Camp for adults of all genders has happened a couple times. Now emerging is Girls Rock Camp Victoria! Newly formed, they are planning their first camp for the Summer of 2014.

Soumya interviews musician Kathryn Calder, who was playing in bands and releasing albums in her teens. Kathryn Calder, along with musician Morning Coup, performed at a benefit concert for Girls Rock Camp Victoria on July 13, 2013. Then Robyn interviews the organizers of Girls Rock Camp Victoria.
