Program Title: HAITI: Anatomy of a Coup D'Etat
Description: It was in the early hours of February 29, 2004, ten years ago, that US and Canadian soldiers in conjunction with France arrived at the presidential palace of democratically elected president Jean-Bertrand Aristode and compelled him to get on a plane and leave the country. Lavals supporters were jailed and an 'interim' government was installed.
This episode of the Global Research News Hour is a retrospective on those actions a decade ago. The interview guests are Jean St. Vil, a Haitian-born Ottawa-based Haitian solidarity activist, and Michel Chossudovsky, founder of the Centre for Research on Globalization, award-winning author and Emeritus Professor of Economics.
St.Vil reflects on the events of ten years ago, while Chossudovsky provides the geo-political backdrop of those events.
Host(s): Michael Welch
