Program Title: Endeavours - The Alternative Easter
Description: Jay Parini is a novelist, poet, non-fiction writer and professor at Middlebury College in Weybridge, Vermont. He has authored four books of poetry, and his 1990 Novel - The Last Station - was turned into an Academy Award-nominated film in 2009 starring Christopher Plummer, Helen Mirren and Jasm MacIvoy. He has also written biographies of John Steinbeck, Robert Frost and William Faulkner, and edits yearly volumes of criticism for Scribners. His new book - published by Houghton Mifflin is "Jesus: The Human Face of God", which re-examines Jesus' life, the gospels, and the resurrection and attempts to clear up some myths.
Werner Arnold is a professor of Semitic studies at Heidelberg University in Germany. He is an expert on the Aramaic language, which is danger of becoming extinct due to the conflict in Syria. Prof. Werner talks about the attempts to save the language, Aramaic's role in the historical tellings of Jesus' life and how it has shifted over time.
Jessica Beach is a Vancouver-based musician and singer-songwriter, who was the very first guest on Endeavours in February, 2010. Her third album, the EP "Songs For Sadie", dedicated to her late dog, was just released. Her release party will be held April 25 at Joe's Apartment.
