Description: In this episode host Jenn Harmer interviews Puente Theatre’s Artistic Director Mercedes Bátiz-Benét who is working in conjunction with Brian Richmond, Blue Bridge’s Artistic Director on the production Làgrimas Crueles Cruel Tears. This bilingual musical deals with the tension surrounding race and immigration in the border town of El Paso, Texas, a rewrite of Canadian classic Cruel Tears. The interview outlines the importance of theatre as a way of transcending human understanding of different cultures, languages and realities.
The second half of the show features guest Jennifer Stillwell Supervisor for the Split BFA Exhibition taking place here at Uvic highlighting the work of graduating students from the Visuals Arts Program.
