Featured Speakers/Guests: Huguette Labelle, former head of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA); Aza Karam of Egypt, director of women’s programs at Religions for Peace, based in New York; Mahnaz Afkhami, an Iranian exile, head of Women’s Learning Parnership; Suheir Azuni, Palestinian and former director of the Women’s Technical Affairs Committee – a coalition lobbying for women’s rights in Palestine and the Middle East; Charlotte Bunch, director of the Center for Women’s Global Leadership at Rutgers University; Aruna Rao, from New Delhi, India, director of the Gender at Work Collaborative, and a scholar studying institutional change; Ayo Obe, Nigeria, president of the Civil Liberties organization; Jacqueline Pitanguy, a leader in re-building women’s rights in Brazil, and head of the group Citizenship, Scholarship, Research, Information, and Action; Asma Khadr, a lawyer working against honour killings in Jordan, and an executive committee member of the International Commission of Jurists.; Devaki Jain, Bangalore, India, a founder of DAWN – Development Alternatives with Women for a New Era.
