Description: Louis Gossett Jr. won an Emmy Award for his role as Fiddler in the acclaimed 1977 mini-series "Roots". Six years later, he became the first African-American Male to win an Academy Award, taking home the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role as Gunnery Sergeant Foley in "An Officer And A Gentleman"
He is also known on Broadway for his role in "A Raisin in The Sun" as well as its subsequent film adaptation.
Now, he co-stars as Daddy Moses, in the CBC Mini-series "The Book Of Negroes", co-written by Lawrence Hill, who adapted it from his own award-winning Novel.
John Vaillant is a journalist whose previous books are "The Golden Spruce" and "The Tiger" which was featured on Canada Reads in 2012. He has now released his first novel, "The Jaguar's Children", which tells the story of Hector: a young Mexican-Zapotec left for dead at the border by ruthless Coyotes.
The Vaselines are a Glaswegian duo consisting of Frances McKee and Eugene Kelly. After splitting in 1990, the reformed in 2006 and recently released their 3rd album "V is For Vaselines".
