Program Title: WINGS #03-15 Male Privilege to Kill
Description: The three interviews in this program suggest that in the UK, the US - and doubtless other countries - a cultural bias still excuses men's violence towards women more than women's self-defense against men - exemplified in a shocking comparison of sentence lengths for those who kill intimate partners.
Host(s): Meghan Murphy
Featured Speakers/Guests: Karen Ingala Smith, a frontline worker with battered women in the UK created a blog and a database counting women killed by men, and now profiles murdered women. Elizabeth Rohrbaugh directed the new documentary The Perfect Victim, and Amy Lorenz-Moser is a lawyer with the Missouri Battered Women’s Clemency Coalition whose work is featured in the film.
Credits: Based on interviews from the podcast series Feminist Current, produced by Meghan Murphy; additional sound from documentary The Perfect Victim. Series producer, Frieda Werden.
