Program Title: Canadian and American Subterfuge in Syria and Iran: Conversations with Binoy Kampmark and Mahdi Naz
Description: With a nuclear deal being signed between the major powers and Iran over the summer, and now Russia joining the fight against ISIS/ISIL terrorists, we examine the geopolitical maneuvering currently taking place around Iran and Syria.
We start with former Selwyn College Commonwealth Scholar and current senior Scholar at RMIT University Binoy Kampmark. During an in-studio discussion which took place in early October, we discussed the hawkish policy orientation of the Harper government, Russia's recent involvement in the war on ISIS/ISIL, the concept of humanitarian intervention, and the Canadian government's peculiar departure from the US and other traditional allies with regard to the Iranian nuclear deal.
In the second half hour, Sociologist, and award-winning author and geopolitical analyst Mahdi Nazemroaya explains how the Iranian nuclear deal reflects a failure of the international sanctions regime, and an attempt to re-orient aggressive policies against Russia.
