The first film ever nominated from Columbia, it is a black and white story set in the Amazon jungle about an indigenous shaman and his relationship with two scientists. It a fictional re-telling of the life of two scientists - German ethnologist Theodor Koch-Grunberg and American botanist Richard Evans Schultes.
Adam Benzine is a British journalist currently based in Toronto. His film "Claude Lanzmann: Spectres of the Shoah, is in the running for best Documentary Short Subject. It tells the story of how rogue french director Claude Lanzmann was able to make his epic 10 hour Holocaust documentary "Shoah.
Hamish Purdy is a Canadian set decorator who is nominated in the best "Production Design" category (along with designer Jack Fisk) for his work on "The Revenant" directed by Alejandro G. Innaritu.
