Description: In his message M. Guy Matte, Executive director of the Canadian Foundation for Cross-Cultural Dialogue linked this initiative with the celebration of 150 Anniversary of Canada and the 175 anniversary of the birth of Sir Wilfrid Laurier. He stressed on the contribution of Sir Wilfrid Laurier to the construction of Canada. He thanked the different partners Canadian Heritage, Parks Canada, Laurier House, and nearly 20 organizations which helped in this project supported also by NCRA for the promotion of the project (40 stations are involved in the National Advertising Campaign Launching Nov 20-26th).
M. Randy Boissonaux, the Secretary of the Parliament, mentioned in his message some of the accomplishments of Sir Wilfrid Laurier who highlighted the importance of the creation of two provinces Alberta and Saskatchewan and brought them in the Confederation, who was a builder who embodied the best aspects of Canadian identity which Canadian still valued today : linguistic duality, spirit of openness, spirit of inclusion, peaceful resolution of conflict. According to M. Boissonaux, Sir Wilfrid Laurier mixed the best of the two culture anglophone and francophone.
