Two oppposing views on Eritrea's human rights record.

Program Title: Africa's Cuba? What is Behind International Condemnation of Eritrea?
Description: In June of 2016, a United Nations sanctioned Commission of Inquiry submitted its second report on the human rights situation in Eritrea. The report, based on interviews with hundreds of Eritreans in 13 countries concluded that violations had been committed in the African country over the course of two decades which amounted to Crimes Against Humanity.
The report recommends that Eritrean officials be reffered to the International Criminal Court.
On this week's Global Research News Hour, we examine the concerns raised by the report, ad put them in a geopolitical context to determine if the charges are fair, or if they are being trumped up to satisfy an imperial agenda.
Andebrhan Welde Giorgis is a veteran of the war for Eritrea's independence, a former member of the Eritrean National Assembly and author of the 2014 book "Eritrea at a Crossroads: A Narrative of Triumph, Betrayal and Hope." He is a critic of the Eritrean government.
Thomas C Mountain is an independent journalist based in Asmara since 2006. He has written for Black Agenda Report, COunterpunch and other online publications and counters the criticisms levelled by the 'Human Rights mob' as he calls them.
