Program Title: Defending the Indefensible
Description: During World War 2, the maternal grandfather of Canada's Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland had edited and published a widely circulated daily newspaper containing Nazi spin and propaganda along with anti-Semitic hate speech. Freeland has misrepresented her Grandfather's war-time activities and even attempted to portray the recent releases of this information as part of a Russian dis-information campaign to destabilize the Canadian government.
This episode of the Global Research News Hour explores this aspect of Minister Freeland's family background, what it means in the context of the current Liberal government's foreign policy. We broaden the discussion to include an examination of the Ukrainian nationalist cause in the mid-twentieth century, its links to fascist movements, and the rationale for the Canadian Liberal government's embrace of and support for this cadre of Ukrainians as a representative group within Canada.
Our guests include Moscow-based Western correspondent and commentator John Helmer, and Ottawa-based anti-war activist, researcher and writer Richard Sanders.
