Program Title: RVF 2016-2017 - Week 36 May 8 to 14 2017
Description: Francophones have been present in the Yukon ever since first contact was made with the territory’s aboriginal peoples. When the Klondike Gold Rush brought tens of thousands of fortune seekers to the region, and led to the founding of Dawson City, French-Canadians were in the forefront, and remained to become a key part of the fabric of town life. Today, the Yukon is one of Canada’s most bilingual regions and a new wave of émigrés has arrived, drawn by opportunity, the unspoiled wilderness, and the accepting, egalitarian spirit of Dawson itself.
