Description: Asia Calling is a weekly news program based in Indonesia. They have shared these stories by and about women with WINGS: (1) Nicole Curby interviews ojek (motorbike taxi) customers and drivers in Jakarta, Indonesia, about women drivers. The women ojek drivers have a solidarity organization. (2) Novelist Suki Kim lived six months undercover in North Korea, and wrote Without You, There Is No Us: Undercover Among the Sons of North Korea's Elite. She talks with Nicole Curby. (3) Madalena Soares, former guerrilla fighter for the independence of East Timor (Timor l'Este), built and is funding 5 kindergartens. Teodesia dos Reis reports. (4)
Randyka Wijaya interviewed Afghani-Pakistani Karate champion Meena Asadi, who lives as an asylum seeker in Cisarua, West Java, Indonesia. (5) Shandra Woworuntu lost her job in Indonesia and sought work in the US; there, she was sold to a brothel. After her escape, she founded the Mentari Human Trafficking Survivor Empowerment Program. Nicole Curby reports.
