Program Title: NewFound Records - Ep. 443 - Mary Lou Collins
Description: On this episode, NewFound Records profiles the lady who is arguably Newfoundland & Labrador's most successful entertainer ever!

This St. John's girl was 'discovered' locally by Uncle Harry Brown of VOCM radio when she was just 10 years old. Soon, MARY LOU COLLINS became Newfoundland's first child recording artist (1956). Within a few years, local jazz legend Ralph Walker was mentoring her.

Mary Lou quickly exhausted opportunities to advance her singing career in St. John's. So at age 20, she hit the best supper clubs and hotels in Toronto, and throughout Canada. She quickly rocketted to fame, singing on Canada's top TV shows - Juliette, Tommy Hunter, & Wayne & Shuster. Next, Mary Lou hit the stage & TV screen in the U.S., where her star continued to rise. She sang on The Merv Griffin & Joey Bishop TV Shows, and she was paired with Red Buttons, Jack Benny, George Burns, and Bob Hope... the top entertainers in the U.S.

NewFound Records proudly presents Sing Happy - THE MARY LOU COLLINS STORY. The show features Mary Lou's music, and along the way you'll hear excerpts from an interview done in October, 2013.
