Featured Speakers/Guests: Dr. Dorothy Riddle has a PhD in clinical psychology. She has lived, worked and taught in 86 countries, with a focus on the double burden on women who must care for themselves and their dependents. Her talk was titled, “Women as natural disasters’ unseen victims.” Jacqueline Patterson is the Director of the NAACP Environmental and Climate Justice Program. Since 2007 Patterson has served as coordinator & co-founder of Women of Color United. She spoke on "Race and Gender Spell Double Jeopardy in Disasters for Women of Color." Also mentioned: Gloria Giarratano, a professor of nursing at Louisiana State University, who spoke about women pregnant during the recovery from hurricane Katrina.
