Description: Lisa Curran was professor of tropical ecology and director of the Tropical Resources Institute at Yale’s School of Forestry & Environmental Studies when she won a 5-year "Genius Grant." Part of her genius was in studying forests intensely on the ground and also from satellites; part was in developing women scientists for a field dominated by men.
