Description: On this episode of NFR we flashback 30 years to Newfoundland & Labrador music that was new in 1989... the year that Juno Award nominee Jeff Johnston released the province's first jazz LP. It was also the year that Mary Barry and Barry Canning both released their only 45 rpm singles. And the year that Kevin Collins released his first of two LPs.

In the late '80s and early '90s, vinyl LP sales were fading and CD sales were picking up. The transition to digital took a few years, and in those years cassette tape enjoyed its heyday. Therefore, many NL artists released material on cassette and cassette only! Consequently, much of the music on this episode of NFR was sourced from tape... inlcuding tracks by Lew Murphy, Roger Howse, Uncle Harry's Bar Band, and Denis Parker & Roger Howse.
