Program Title: Fit to Eat: the NL Farm and Food Show, episode 44
Description: There have been lots of stories over the past few years of towns and cities that fight to restrict food production within their boundaries. This is a bit of a different story. Today on "Fit to Eat" I visit with Tom Rose, the mayor of Stephenville, who thinks that municipalities need to do more to encourage local food production, not only because it is economic development, it is green, it is what the younger generation is looking for, it helps to create a balanced and healthy town, but also because (he says) "it is the right thing to do." We talk about the farming roots of his area, as well as the way that agriculture can be a central part of the future of the region. Join us for the chat.
