Program Title: WINGS #41-19 Climate Tactics FOR RELEASE WEEK OF JAN. 26, 2020
Description: The climate struggle is not hopeless - culprits are scared and already getting punished. In addition to social media, bodies blocking pipelines, climate strikes, demonstrations and civil disobedience arrests, tools include lawsuits, runs on banks that bankroll the fossil fuel industry, massive "social risk" to degrade stock values, celebrity-fuelled rallies and teach-ins, recognizing indigenous cultural leadership, and re-connecting with nature and each other to re-align the world.
Host(s): Frieda Werden, Jane Fonda
Featured Speakers/Guests: Speakers from the final Fire Drill Friday, Jan. 10, 2020 in Washington DC: Actor and organizer Jane Fonda, author Naomi Klein, Standing Rock water protector Ta'Sina Sapa Win Smith, tribal attorney with Honor the Earth Tara Houska, community development banker Kat Taylor, and First Nations economist Rebecca Adamson. Cameo by Susan Sarandon.
Credits: Thanks to Esther Everim for sharing content from her community radio program On the Ground: Voices of Resistance from the Nation's Capital. The series is distributed through the Pacifica radio network, and can also be found at ontheground.org . Adaptation for WINGS by Frieda Werden.
