Description: If you, like me, are doing your civic duty these days, and are limiting your physical proximity to other humans, you are likely spending far more time at home than you thought possible. Thus, this week on "Routes & Branches & Beyond," the theme is "the comforts of home." Part one. Because it appears that this may be our new normal for awhile. So I play a variety of songs, tunes and artists, all with some connection to "home." In the show, "home" is captured by the yearning of waltzes, the drama of celtic ballads, the delight of hearth-nurtured jigs, the joy of stride ragtime, the unabashed pleasure of pop, the mournful keening of the folk blues, the high lonesome of Irish bluegrass, the open highway of guitar-based rock 'n swing, and the strident and monochromatic magic of sacred harp singing. All in one hour. You can spare that, right? You can listen from home!
