Description: This week on "Routes & Branches & Beyond" I have another set of rambles as we enter the transition from summer to fall. I start out with Zydeco blues, then rant on about the desecration of rural Canada (where the professionalization of development has led to ever-more-dismal buildings and communities) - supported by a modern bluegrass lament, then on to a celebration of the sould of small towns, some rambling banjo blues, a Scottish ballad about complicated relationships (a man and his fiddle...), new anthemic folk rock from Shred Kelly, some enchanting howling from a grand Quebec trio, a vignette from the days of the 1960s Folk Scare, Metis fiddling about wildlife, a Malian song with a Latin groove about determination, and ending (oddly) with some early music from Provence with an unpronounceable title. So I don't even try. Join me.
