Description: On this episode of the Night Shift, I had the pleasure of chatting with the brilliant guitarist and songwriter now known as Brent O'Toole of experimental weirdo-jazz prog-rockers, Animatist! For lovers of labels like Drip Audio and Thrill Jockey, and bands like Fond Of Tigers, toe, Inhabitants, and Jagajazzist, they will be right up your alley, and for me, is as much a throwback to my early days in community radio, as it is modern soundtrack that hopefully hypnotizes young high schoolers in the way that a De-Loused in the Comatorium transfixed Brent and I. And so, we talked about their album INVERTED, Glue Gun Records, the gospel of Joe Sorbara and Ken Aldcroft, OG Brampton legends Vulcan Dub Squad and their connective tree of bizarre comedy shows and fascinating scores, the most secret venue in Montreal, which community radio champion is possibly a cannibal and other tales!
