Program Title: Fit to Eat Season 2 Episode 17
Description: Today on "Fit to Eat" we head to Iceland for a couple of chats, just to see how things related to food and agriculture, and rural in general, are going there since Covid rearranged many of our plans. We meet up with Dóróthea Ármann of Friðheimar, where they produce tomatoes, cucumbers and fine horses, and operate a very popular restaurant in one of their greenhouses. Then we visit with Hjalti Jóhannesson, who works at a rural research centre on the campus of the University of Akureyri, in the north-central region of Iceland. Akureyri, which is about 100 kilometres from the Arctic Circle, is much like Corner Brook in NL, and the University of Akureyri has similarities to the Grenfell Campus of Memorial University. So I’ve always felt right at home there. Join us for conversation about how to use the pandemic to make positive changes in a business model, and come out of it a renewed company and staff. And many other topics related to rural Iceland, from amalgamation to taxation. All along with some Icelandic music. Boil up a pylsur and join us.
