Program Title: THIS JUST IN: a live set from CKUT's Breadline Beat
Description: Set in motion live, durring the predawn hours of monday January 28th 2008, this performance is the culmination of a long and ongoing project on CKUT Radio music show 'the Breadline Beat' to explore and problematize the difference between audio art and turntablism. The set attempts to animate and re-animate the overflowing refuse of mass media as a way of pupeteering new meanings and investigating old politics. It is inspired by the tradition of sound art (like musique concret), the magicianship of turntablism, and those persistent individuals like Martin Tetrault who stick in the craw of the difference.
