Program Title: Montreal families speak-out on Gaza: Interview with Ghada Abbas
Description: Montreal families speak-out on Gaza

As world attention is focused on Israel's unilateral ceasefire in Gaza, the destruction wrought on the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip is only now coming to light.

According to U.N. officials over 1300 Palestinians were killed, including over 300 children in the latest Israeli attack on Gaza and across the world
Palestinians are mourning including in Montreal.

Today, a group of Montreal families, originally from Gaza, who have lost direct family to the Israeli attack on Gaza are speaking out.

"Israel's bombardment on Gaza has been devastating for my family, both my father and my brother were killed in Israeli air strikes for nothing other
than being Palestinian," outlined Ghada Abbas, originally from Beit Lahia who now lives in Montreal, "Israel's bombardment and invasion of Gaza has brought such grief to my family and stolen some of my closest family members."

Having lost fathers, brothers, sisters and cousins in the attack Palestinians in Montreal are speaking out about their tragic losses while also calling on the Conservatives government of Stephen Harper to take a stand against Israeli war crimes in Gaza, as documented by major international human rights organizations including Amnesty International.

"Israel's military actions in Gaza and specifically in Rafah, saw many Palestinian civilians killed and large parts of our civilian infrastructure destroy," outlines Hadi Eid, a Palestinian from Rafah, Gaza now living in
Montreal, "Canada must take a strong stand against Israel's attacks on Palestinian civilians in Gaza."

Canada was the only country at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to vote against a resolution that called for a halt to Israeli
military attacks in Gaza, standing alone against thirty-three other nations who voted for the resolution drafted by Arab, Asian and African countries.

In Montreal on Sunday, January 25th another demonstration in solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza, will protest the complicity of the US, Canadian and Quebec governments towards Israel's war crimes in Gaza and demand that the Quebecois and Canadian governments cut their ties to apartheid Israel.
