Program Title: WINGS #21-09 Pakistan Women Advance
Description: In Parliament, in academics, in journalism, and elsewhere, Pakistani women now abound. In some parts of Pakistan, women are still inhibited by tribal taboos, but the problem is being worked on by the Aurat Foundation, and much has changed for this generation in both rural and urban areas.
Host(s): Masum Moyama, curator, Women, Power and Politics, International Museum of Women
Featured Speakers/Guests: Dr. Masuma Hasan was Pakistan's first woman Ph.D. and first woman Federal Secretary of Pakistan. She was the Chairperson of the Group of 77 at the UN in Vienna, and served as Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations Office in Vienna and other international organizations, and Pakistan’s ambassador both to the International Atomic Energy Agency and to Austria, Slovenia and Slovakia. She's on the Board of Pakistan's Aurat (Women) Foundation, which monitors women in politics.
