Program Title: Project Hero Scholarship and Canadian Imperialism
Description: 15 professors at the University of Regina are urging their administration to withdraw from participation in the “Project Hero” scholarship program. This program waives tuition and course fees, and provides $1,000 per year to “dependents of Canadian Forces personnel deceased while serving with an active mission”. It glorifies Canadian imperialism in Afghanistan and elsewhere by associating “heroism” with the act of military intervention.
