Program Title: Terra Informa 7-36: Hydroelectric Dams - Good, Bad, or Ugly?
Description: This week we're dedicating the entire show to a look at dams. They allow us to irrigate farmland and produce electricity, but they can also flood vast areas, alter wildlife migration, and force entire cities to relocate. Dave takes a look at some of the biggest dams ever built and their impacts, both positive and negative. Then Steve investigates the newly approved Site C dam that's planned for northern BC. Representatives for BC Hydro, the Wilderness Committee, and Citizens United to Save the Peace all weigh in on the project. Alex has your wrap up of the week's headlines and Rebekah hosts.
Host(s): Rebekah Rooney
Featured Speakers/Guests: Gwen Barlee - Policy Director for the Wilderness Committee;
Dave Conway - BC Hydro's Community Relations Manager for the Site C project
Melody Blaney - Spokesperson for Citizens United to Save the Peace (CUSP)
Credits: A production of CJSR Radio in Edmonton, Alberta.
Contributors: David Kaczan, Alex Hindle, and Steve Andersen
