Description: This week on Routes & Branches & Beyond we start to take a look at that thing that seems to be expanding these days - not our waists, but time. Yes, time. That thing that either whips by quickly or drags on. To help in this theme, I play some bluegrass from Barcelona, tender love ballads of times that stop and the heart and help us turn a corner, torch and blues from a couple of old-timers, a country psychadelic version of old time religion, afro pop about existential angst, western swing teaching us how to say "doggone" with gravitas, lusty shanties about hit it's all downhill from here on, some auld time Irish waltzes (with authentic auld spelling), a folk rendition of a sweet Mennonite hymn (I'm not kidding...), and new material from Scottish singer and keen social observer Kris Drever.
