Program Title: Routes & Branches & Beyond, show # 175
Description: Sometimes, a CD will fall off a shelf. You stoop to pick it up, dust it off, take a second look, and then exclaim, "I haven't listened to this in a donkey's age!" Before you know it, you have a radio show of such encounters. This week on "Routes & Branches & Beyond," it is a February ramble. Sinewy Scottish tunes, Montreal pub bands being all introspective, folkish trios singing Springsteen anthems, spirited Acadiana from PEI, old-timey hoedowns from Ireland, slack key therapy from Oahu, African-American stringband delights, country-folk gratitude and original NL trad opuses. From bands like Solstice, the Good Lovelies, John McCusker, Gadelle, Slide, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Billy Sutton, Lucinda Williams and Cyril Pahinui. Plus, new tracks from St. John's folk/roots duo Rube & Rake and Edmonton's folk treasure Maria Dunn. Join me.
