Program Title: Routes & Branches & Beyond, show # 208
Description: It strikes me that the Celts really do know how to do Christmas. Well, many of the symbols of the season came from them, I suppose. At least in northern climes. Them and the Nordic Yule folks. Oh, and the Romans. And later some of the Germans. And the list goes on. So, today on "Routes & Branches & Beyond" I'll play a variety of seasonal music to illustrate the cultural mix of this holiday. I have music from Emily Smith, the Odds, Sixpence None the Richer, Ken Whiteley, the Band, Blue Rodeo, Willowgreen, the Barra MacNeils, Loreena McKennitt, Gordon Lightfoot, Loretto Reid & Brian Taheny, Natalie MacMaster & Donnell Leahy and Yo-Yo-Ma & Friends. Join me in the Gingerbread House.
